Both times I have heard BSO I have come away thinking that the performances are right at the edge of mainstream. Firebird was stunning. And now the Mahler required prodigious concentration over a long continuous period, no ADD here.

Noosa music lovers are in for a treat with the formation of Noosa Long Weekend Festival Orchestra under the baton of Antoni Bonetti who divides his time between Noosa and Brisbane–with an orchestra or two in each.

And there's nothing the Maestro enjoys more than putting his ensembles together for massive 'surround sound' experiences.

On Sunday July 26 at 4.30pm, 250 musicians will take the stage at Noosa Leisure Centre. The 70-strong Brisbane Symphony Orchestra will open with the rousing Corsair Overture by Hector Berlioz. Then they will be joined by the 30 members of Noosa Orchestra and 110 choristers of Brisbane Chorale (directed by Emily Cox).

Young musicians will share the excitement for the rousing Beethoven Fifth Symphony. It will be an inspiring, ear-opening experience for Good Shepherd Lutheran College Orchestra to play alongside more seasoned musicians.

Mezzo-soprano Louise Dorsman and Toowoomba soprano Melinda Janetzki will be soloists in Mahler's uplifting 'Resurrection' Symphony number 2. There will be a rarely heard – for obvious reasons! – Double Symphony written by German composer Louis Spohr for two orchestras.
