Wrap-up of the 20th Annual 4MBS Festival of Classics

The pinnacle of the festival was the previous Sunday’s epic “Verdi Requiem” to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. It can be safely said that the performance was one of the best Brisbane has ever seen — a collaboration between 4MBS Classic FM, Brisbane Chorale, the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, and internationally-renowned Queensland singers Rosario La Spina, Jacqueline Mabardi, Georgia Hawes and David Wakeham. It was a sold-out event and attracted a standing ovation by a crowd of over one thousand, which filled the newly-refurbished Brisbane City Hall. Audience members have hailed the performance as“sublime” and“glorious”. 4MBS Classic FM would like to thank everyone who performed and attended the festival, and to Arts Queensland and the Brisbane City Council for financially supporting the festival. A special acknowledgement goes to the Governor of Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley, for being Patron of the 4MBS Festival of Classics.
